Original M42 German helmet in size 62/55. Stored to look and feel like and original medic’s helmet. Features a brushed on white finish over the factory field gray paint and hand rendered Geneva crosses.
Description
This is an original restored German M42 helmet. The shell is maker marked Hkp with a lot number that puts production in 1944. The helmet was fully stripped of post-war paint then repainted the correct shade of aluminum oxide textured field gray. The inside of the dome was then ink stamped with the correct inspector’s mark for this factory. The helmet’s liner and chinstrap are museum quality replicas.
The helmet’s restoration was inspired by helmets worn mostly behind the lines by German medics. As was the practice at the time the helmet was brushed with white paint over the factory finish then each Geneva cross was hand rendered.
The helmet has been heavily distressed to look and feel original. There are lots of chips and scuff not to mentions a great patina. You’ll this this one saw it all, and being it is an original shell maybe it did.
