Description

This M42 helmet is size 66 and is marked with the unknown marker mark bVL. There are some theories as to which firm made these helmets. Some believe that it was an additional mark made used by Eisenhuttenwerke as the shape is similar to that of M42s made by them. No one really knowns.

The helmet was totally stripped of post-war paint then repainted the correct shade of aluminum oxide textured field gray. The inside of the helmet was ink stamped with an inspector’s mark. After the paint was cured the helmet was over sprayed with a 3-color camouflage pattern of mustard, red-brown and dark green. This pattern is known as Normandy camo, but it was used other places like the Italian front.

The helmet comes fit with the proper liner and chinstrap. The strap is RB marked, as most late-war straps were.

The helmet is heavily aged to look and feel original. There is an overall great patina and you’ll think this helmet was actually taken as a trophy after a tough fight in the headge rows of Normandy.
