Original restored German M42 helmet. The shell is EF64 marked. Carefully repainted and distressed to look and feel like an original SS Police helmet with a winter camouflage scheme.
Description
This is an original EF64 marked German M42 helmet. The shell was made in by Emaillerwerke AG, Fulda in mid 1943 before the decal drop. The helmet was totally stripped of post-war paint and repainted the correct shade of rough textured field gray. The bordered Police decal and party shield were applied using period resin.
The helmet’s restoration was inspired by helmet worn by SS Police units during winter campaigns such as the battle for Nava. The white paint was brushed onto the helmet as is typically seen on original example. The decals were left exposed. The helmet was then distressed to create the look and feel of an original example.
The helmet’s liner frame is original, dated 1943. The leather is new but distressed to match the helmet. The chinstrap is RB marked with steel hardware as is the case with many post 1943 helmets.
This is a great example of a helmet that reflects the hell that was the Eastern Front in the winter. Perfect for any WWII collection.
