German M35 size 68/61

Description

This is an original restored German M35 in the desirable size 68. The shell was made by Eisenhüttenwerk AG, Thale Hartzuttenwerk AG, Thale Harz in early 1940, a few months before the M40s went into production. The shell was stripped of all post-war paint and properly repainted with a smooth apple green paint. The dome was stamped with the proper dome stamp used by inspectors in this factory in late 1939 into the early 40s. The helmet comes fit with a 1939 dated aluminum reenforced liner. This style aluminum liner with rounded chinstrap bales was only used briefly before manufactures switched to steel, but it often encountered on late production M35s. The leather is steer hide. Both chinstrap and spit pins are dated 1939.

The helmet looks exactly as it might have on January of 1940. If you’re a reenactor with a large hat size, this is the helmet for you.
