Description

This is an original restored British Marrk II helmet. The skirt is marked with the stamp of William Dodson & Sons, Birmingham. The paint on the inside of the shell is the original WWII paint. The outside was stripped of post-war paint then repainted the correct shade of British olive. The helmet was then brush painted with a coat of tan paint for service in North Africa. The paint was mixed with gravel to flatten the finish as was often done in the field. The front of the helmet has the hand rendered flash of the Polish army. This particular version was modeled off an original that was worn by the 3rd Carpathian rifles during their service in North Africa including the battle for Tobruk.

The helmet’s liner and chinstrap are both original. The liner is size 6 1/2, maker marked JCS& W for J. Compton & Sons & Webb Ltd. – London. This firm only made liner from 1938 to 1940. The is the early version with the round dome pad. The date is hard to make out but it maybe 1940.

The helmet has been heavily aged to look and feel like an original.
