Description

This U.S. M1 helmet was made by Ingersoll under their 1960s contract. The helmet retains its original sand textured paint. The helmet has been fit with a new chinstrap made from original hardware. The helmet’s liner is a P64. The paint, webbing, sweatband and neck strap are all original Vietnam war era production.

The helmet cover is a new reproduction but has been heavily distressed to look and feel original. The cover has been graffitied a few times using various type of sharpies that were available in the era. The quote and phrases are all things found on original helmets of the time and reflect the wearer’s sentiments of his situation. The fabric has a nice washed-out appearance as it sat on our shop’s roof in the hot California sun all summer. Exactly as you’d expect from an original that did a tour in Vietnam. The cover is secured with a rubber band cut from a vintage Michelin tire. This was a common practice with the Marines but was not exclusive to them.

This is the perfect helmet for a Vietnam war enthusiast or reenactor.
