US M2 w/Westinghouse Jump liner 506th PIR
$560.00
Restored US M2 helmet fit with a Westinghouse jump liner. The helmet has been distressed to look and feel like an original worn by the 506th PIR during the Normandy drop.
Description
This helmet was made in 1942 by McCord Radiator. The shell has a heating lot number of 235 and started life out as a real M2. At some point the bales were broken off and the shell was converted to a swivel bale. As part of the restoration the swivel bales were removed, and proper D-bales were spot welded backed into place in the exact locations the originals were back when the helmet was made at the McCord factory. The helmet was then properly corked and repainted.
This restoration was inspired by helmets worn by member of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment during the Normandy drop. The 506th spade was applied by hand, in the large size used during Normandy. The helmet has been fit with a Westinghouse jump liner, which is the version many members of the 506th received prior to the Normandy jump. The look as been completed with a O.D. #7 net, which is one of two version used by the 506th.
The helmet has been carefully aged and distressed to look and feel original.
Today original 506th M2s are almost impossible to find, now you can have the next best thing at a fraction of the price.
