Description

This U.S. M1 helmet has been restored to a 1960s Vietnam war look. The helmet shell was made by Parish Dana during the 1960s. The helmet still retains the original 1960s factory applied paint. The chinstrap is new but has original hardware.

The helmet’s liner is Korean war era and is Micarta marked and dated 1952. It has been re-webbed with O.D. #7 suspension like it was originally. The nape strap is original as is the sweatband. During Vietnam many of these older Korean war era liners were converted to jump liners by riggers. Like in those cases the A yokes were riveted into place just below the suspension.

The Mitchell helmet cover is a new reproduction. Like was often done in the field the cover was boiled then installed onto the helmet to allow it to shrink into place. The cover has sun damage and shows significant wear and fading as would be expected on an original example. The graffiti has been applied with various pens to show it might have been written at different times. The phrases are all ones known to have been used during the Vietnam war and show the sarcastic wit of the era.

This is a great looking helmet that looks like it was sourced right out of a Vet’s attic. Just what you need for you NAM collection
