Description

This original restored U.S. M1 helmet was made by McCord Radiator company in 1942. The shell was stripped of post-war paint and repainted the correct shade of WWII cork textured olive drab. The helmet was then fit with a reproduction Marine helmet cover. This is the version with slits. The cover was secured with a rubber band, a practice common at Iwo Jima. The helmet’s liner was made by CAPC. This is a 1944 version with blackened A washers. The liner still retains the original factory paint and suspension. The sweatband is new but distressed to match the helmet.

The helmet and cover have been heavily aged to look and feel original. The cover has a sun faded and salt damaged frayed appearance. You’ll think it really might have been there.

If you have ever wanted the helmet worn by the USMC during the island-hopping campaigns of 1944-45, this is the helmet for you.
