US m1 helmet restoration, with Firestone liner, distressed to look original
Description
This is an original restored U.S. M1 medic’s helmet. The shell was made by Schlueter in early 1943. The helmet’s liner is Firestone marked. The helmet was stripped of all post-war paint and properly recorked and repainted WWII olive drab. The medic’s insignia was applied by hand as was the practice at the time. The helmet was then heavily aged to look and feel original.
The liner was rebuild using original WWII production suspension. It is set up in a 1943 configuration with uncoated steel A washers, a flat flip cam buckle on the chinstrap.
This is an excellent example for any WWII collection.
