Original German M18 helmet in size 64. Restored to look and feel like an original SS double decal parade helmet.
Description
This original restored German M18 helmet was made during WWI. The shell is maker marked with a small Bell and the letter L indicating it was made by R. Lindenberg A.G., Remscheid-Hasten.
The helmet’s restoration was inspired by those worn by the SS during the 1930s for parade and sentry detail. Like the originals this helmet started at a regular Great War M18, with a M18 three pad liner, and carbine clip chinstrap. The helmet was then over sprayed with black paint over the WWI factory finish bother outside and around the inside of the skirt. The SS Poucher style decals were applied using period resin.
The helmet was then distressed to look and feel original. The finish shows a few chips and dings from being dropped on cobblestone and being knocked by a Gew98. There is a nice patina from heavy polishing and waxing often seen on originals.
Original M18 SS parade helmets are quite rare and fetch between 15-20k. Here is a great example without a price that will break your bank.
