Description
This is an original restored Soviet SSH36 helmet. The shell is size 2 about a 56 cm. This was the standard helmet of the red army from 1936 well into WWII despite being replaced in 1939. The helmet has been restored to reflect the winter fighting on the Eastern Front in placed like Stalingrad and the Leningrad front.
The shell was stripped of post-war paint then repainted the correct shade of 1930s Soviet Moss green. The proper Red Army star was stenciled onto the front of the helmet. The helmet was then over painted with a coat of white enamel for winter fighting. The helmet was then heavily distressed to look and feel original.
The helmet has been fit with the proper liner and twill ersatz chinstrap The liner is made with vintage Soviet cloth and look identical to what was used. The chinstrap buckle and the rivets are all original WWII production.
This is an excellent helmet for any Eastern Front collection.
