Description
This original restored German M42 helmet is maker marked hpk64 and bears a 5000 series lot number that indicates 1944 production. The helmet’s restoration was inspired by those wore by German troops during the battle of the Bulge.
The shell was stripped of post-war paint. It was repainted a dark shape of field gray and has the proper inspector’s ink stamp for this factory. The helmet was brush painted with a coat of white paint for winter fighting. This look could have been used during any of the winter campaigns of 1944-45. The chicken wire basket was made using three twist single stand sheet, secured to the helmet with bits of sheet metal and baling wire. Things a soldier could have scrounged.
The helmet comes fit with the proper steel frame liner and late-war chinstrap. These are museum quality replicas, distressed to match the helmet.
The helmet has been heavily distressed for that been there look, and this one truly looks the part.
