Description

This is an original German M42 helmet in size 62. The shell was made by Sachsishe Emaillerwerke, Lauter in mid 1942 right after the model switch from the M40 to the M42. The shell is maker marked Hkp62.

The helmet was fully stripped of post war paint and repainted the correct shade of rough textured field gray. A Heer decal was applied using period resins. An inspector’s ink stamp can be found on the inside of the dome. An Italian front camo pattern was then applied using tones of tan and green. Woods chips were mixed into the paint to flatten the finish. The helmet was then heavily aged to give the appearance of the true battle worn original.

The helmet comes fit with an original rebuild liner. The leather is new but aged to match the helmet. The chinstrap is a mid-war reproduction made with pig skin and field gray painted steel hardware.

This is a perfect helmet for any WWII Italian front collection
