Original restored German M40 SS Normandy Camo. Size 66/59 with original rebuilt liner. Distressed to look and feel original.
Description
This original restored German M40 is size 66 and was manufactured by Eisenhuttenwerke in early 1940. The 4000 series lot number is also shared with M35s made in 1939 into 1940. This helmet was fully stripped of all post war paint and repainted the correct shade of aluminum oxide textured field gray. The proper ET inspector’s ink stamp was applied in the dome. The ET pattern SS decal was then applied to the helmet using period resin. The helmet then the over sprayed with tones of tan, dark green, and red-brown. This pattern is often referred to as Normandy camo but it was also worn in other parts of Europe including the south of France and Italy.
The helmet has been fit with original rebuilt liner, dated 1940 to match the helmet. The leather is new but aged to match the wear of the helmet.
The helmet has been heavily weathered to look and feel original for that true been there look.
SS camo helmets are pretty much unobtainable today. This one looks great and at a price that won’t break the bank.
