Description

This original restored German M40 is size 64 and was made in early 1941 by Eisenhuttenwerke Thale. The restoration was inspired by helmets worn by members of the Waffen-SS during and after operations in Normandy.

For this restoration the helmet was stripped of all layers of post-war paint, then repainted the correct shade of post 1940 rough textured field gray. The 2nd patter ET SS decal was applied to the surface of the helmet with period resin. A three-color camouflage pattern was then applied. These tones of tan, green and red are commonly referred to as being Normandy camo, but this pattern would have been seen in other locations as well.

The helmets liner is original, and dated 1940. The leather is new and is backed with original wool felt. The chinstrap is dated 1940 and is a museum quality replica.

The helmet is heavily distressed to look and feel original. If you have ever wanted an original SS Normandy camo helmet, look no further. These looks and feels like the real deal without the 10k price tag.
