Description

This original restored German M35 helmet was made by Quist. The shell is 64, and the 2000 series lot number puts production in 1939. The helmet was fully stripped and repainted the correct shade of pre-war apple green. The proper Quist pattern SS and party decal were applied using period correct resin. The helmet’s liner is original and dated 1939. It has been rebuilt with new leather and a wool felt pad. The chinstrap has original aluminum hardware and is dated 1939 to match the production of the liner and helmet.

The helmet restoration was inspired by those worn during the hellish days of the first winter on the Russian front. The helmet was over painted with a coat of white paint, both on the inside of the skirt and outside for added camouflage in the snow. The party decal was painted over but can still be seen though the paint. The SS decal was carefully painted around, as was the practice in around 1941-42. The helmet was heavily aged to look and feel original.

Winter camouflaged helmets are impossible to find these days. Now you can have a great example without raiding your retirement fund.
