Description
This is an original restored German M1916 helmet made between 1916 and 1917. The skirt is stamped with an ET66 indicating it was made by Eisenhuttenwerke in size 66. The helmet was fully stripped of post-war paint and repainted the proper shade of WWI Imperial field gray. Like most originals used by the SS for parade detail the outside and inside skirt was sprayed black. The helmet was then fit with an original rebuild 1935 dated liner. The SS Poucher decals were applied with period resin. The chinstrap is a museum quality replica and is dated 1937.
The helmet was then distressed to look and feel original. The liner has darkened from light parade use. The finish shows typical scuffs and scrape from equipment and being dropped on cobble stone. There is also a nice over all patina from being polished by hand over time.
Original SS helmets sell for 18-20k. Have the next best thing for a fraction of the cost of an original.
