Description

This original restored German M40 helmet is size 64 and was made by Eisenhuttenwerke. The 4954-heating lot number likely puts the production in early 1940 after the switch from the M35 to M40. The helmet was fully stripped and repainted field gray. An ET inspector’s stamp was applied to the dome, and the ET style runes decal was applied with period resin.

The helmet’s restoration was inspired by those worn by SS units during the hellish winter campaigns on the Russian front, such as the Demjansk pocket. The helmet has a thick coat of brushed on whitewash that has been heavily distressed and bears a yellowish aged patina. The helmet’s liner leather has darkened from age and moisture damage. The chinstrap is dated 1940 to match the helmet. Both are museum quality replicas.

The helmet has a very convincing look and feel and would be perfect for any Russian front display. Grad this one while it is still here.
