Description
This original restored German M35 helmet is ET64 marked. The heating lot number indicates the shell was made in early 1937. The ET is stamped in stylized gothic script which was abandoned in min 1937. The helmet’s liner is original and is dated 1937 to match the helmet. This is the early unreinforced version. It appears to have been damaged during the war and had the bale reset. The leather is new but distressed to match the helmet. The liner is set into the helmet using brass split pins as was the practice prior to 1940.
The helmet was fully stripped of post-war paint the repainted the correct shade of pre-war apple green. A 1937 inspection stamp was ink stamped into the dome. The Heer decal was applied with period resin.
The helmet was then painted with a coat of tan camouflaged paint mixed with wood pulp. This was done to create a matte finish. The helmet was then over sprayed with a shade of dark green for contrast. A full chicken wire basket was fit onto the helmet. This is the single twist version that would have been available in Europe during the 1940s.
The helmet has been heavily aged and distressed to look and feel original. Just what you need to fill out your Italian front collection.
