Description
This original rear seam M1 helmet was made by Ingersoll during the 1960s. The helmet still retains the original factory paint. The helmet has been restored to look like it might have been worn by a paratrooper during the Vietnam war.
The helmet comes fit with a 1952 dated Korean war era Micarta liner. The liner was rebuilt with the proper O.D. #7 suspension and modified with rigger style. The sweatband is a reproduction, but the A yokes, nape strap and chin cup are original Vietnam era production.
The helmet is fit with a high-quality reproduction Mitchell camouflage cover, secured with rubber band. The cover was boiled, and while still steaming fit onto the helmet. The was a common method used by troops in county to get the cover to form to the helmet shell. There are a number of satirical period phrases scrawled onto cover. The graffiti was applied using a period pen as well as different types of felt tip markers to give the allusion of the being done at different times in the wearer’s tour. The cover has a well-worn sun damaged appearance as you’d expect from series in NAM.
This is a great looking helmet for a Vietnam reenactor or even a collection. Grab this one while it is still available.
