M18 cut-out helmet, autumn camouflage
Category: World War I
Experimental Imperial German M18 ear-cut out helmet. Made by the Eisenhuttenwerke factory. One of less than 100,000 units fabricated between July 23rd and November 1918. The shell was fully stripped of modern incorrect paint, repainted to the proper shade of field gray. The brushed on camoflage pattern is based on the version recommended by General Ludendorff in the summer of 1918. Liner, pins, chinstrap, and horse hair pillows are period correct for the helmet model. The helmet has been carefully distressed to look and feel of a battlefield pickup from the end of the Great War.
