The total restoration of an Italian M1916 helmet, 3rd Bersagliere regiment. This is as the helmet would have appeared worn by the Bersaglieri during the Great War, 1916-1918. The helmet has been repainted the proper shade of Italian army green-gray. These helmets are frequently mistaken as French Adrian helmets, but are entirely different in construction as well as the liner design. The liner was constructed with real oil cloth as the originals were. The chinstrap was made from steer hide which is what the Italians used, not pig or goat skin as was the French practice.
