This helmet’s restoration was inspired by those worn by German medics. Typically helmets like these were worn behind the lines and in field hospital.  This is an original restored M42 in size 64. The helmet was made by Eisenhuttenwerke and is cKL64 marked on the back flange. The heating lot number indicates a mid 1943 production, made before the decal drop.

The helmet was totally stripped of post-war paint, then repainted the correct shade of aluminum oxide textured field gray paint. The inside of the dome was stamped with the proper ET/cKL inspector’s ink stamp. A museum quality Heer decal was then applied using period varnish. The white paint was brushed over the factory finish, and the Geneva crosses were hand rendered as originals were.
