Chinese contract German M35
Chinese contract German M35. This restoration was done on an original unmarked ET shell from 1934 or early 1935. The client requested the heavy aging package we offer. The helmet was slowly aged over almost 8 weeks. As an artist my goal was to design three distinct patterns of wear to create a feel of authenticity. The first was substantial damage and wear from training then hard fighting in the battle for Shanghai of 1937. The second pattern was done to reflect being dropped in the streets of Chapei and kicked around for a while after the battle. Perhaps picked up by a White Russian or Chinese resident of the city and kept as an object of mild curiosity for a few years. The last pattern was to show the wear a helmet would receive that was purchased by a Marine from a Shanghai street vender in 1947, then carried back home in a duffle bag
