Original German M42 helmet in size 66. HpK marked, manufactured in 1944. Fully restored to look and feel like a typical late war Normandy Camoflage pattern helmet.

This is original M42 German helmet is Hkp66 marked and has a lot number that puts the production in 1944. The helmet has been restored to look and feel like it might have been worn during one of the late campaigns of WWII in the European theater.

The helmet was fully striped of post-war paint then repainted the correct shade of rough textured field gray. The camoflage pattern was over sprayed with a pneumatic paint gun as would have been done during the war. In this case tone of dark mustard, grass green and red oxide were applied. This color combination is often referred to as Normandy camoflage, but was also seen with some frequency during Nijmegen, the Italian front, and all the way to the end of the war. The helmet comes fit with a 5-twist chickenwire basket. The wire is single twist and is the type available in Europe during the 1940s.

The helmet has been heavily distressed to look and feel original. There are a few original shrapnel dings with were incorporated into the distressed pattern which add to the authenticity. The helmet has a very nice patina and will display just as well as the original version that goes for some 2K. This one won’t break your bank.
