This M35 helmet shell is ET marked and bears a mid 1937 production heating lot number. The helmet has been fully stripped of post-war paint then repainted the correct shade of pre-war apple green. The dome of the helmet has a 1937 dome stamp. A Heer and national colors decal were then applied using period methods. The helmet was then brush painted with a coat of mustard tan camoflage paint. This color was seen most often during the fighting in Tunisia.
The helmet was fit with an original rebuilt 1937 dated unreinforced liner with brass split pins. Vintage 30 years old leather was used to rebuild the liner. It has been aged and distressed to look and feel originals. The wool felt backing is original. The chinstrap is new, but also distressed to match the helmet
The helmet has been carefully aged to have the look and feel of an original battle worn helmet, and will display nicely as such.
Today original examples of DAK helmets are scare and sell for upwards of 2k. Here is a wonderful example at a fraction of the cost of the real thing.
